Modway Jenna Innerspring Mattress
The Modway Jenna mattress is a hybrid design offering a blend between innersprings and memory foam. Hybrid models are accessible for people that prefer a lightweight mattress that has the same supportive characteristics as pure memory foam beds but at a cheaper price point.
This hybrid mattress offers a fantastic balance between functionality, comfort, and affordability. If you don’t have the budget for a memory foam mattress, but want the same levels of comfort, support, and quality, consider going with a hybrid mattress that’s a fraction of the cost of a memory foam model.
The Modway Jenna mattress makes an excellent choice for landlords and guest house owners looking to replace worn out sleeping accommodations with a bed that’s built to last. We reviewed the Modway Jenna mattress, read on to see what we thought.
PROS
- Affordable, with the best specs in its category.
- 10-year manufacturers warranty.
- Features composite construction and feels like a real memory foam mattress.
CONS
- The Modway Jenna is not suitable for people who like a soft mattress.
- The 14-inch version may be slightly softer than the 10-inch version.
- The polyester cover doesn’t have moisture-wicking properties.
Modway Jenna Innerspring Mattress 8-inch Vs 10-inch vs 14-inch
The Modway Jenna Innerspring mattress is available in 3 different heights, 8 inches, 10 inches and 14 inches. Firstly the 8-inch mattress style is the smallest style, with 7 inches of tall individually wrapped coils, 0.5 inches of responsive foam and 0.5 inches of convoluted foam padding.
However, the Modway 14-inch Jenna mattress has taller springs, measuring at 10-inches in length. The egg-carton foam layer also gets an additional 2-inches of thickness in the 14-inch model as well. This extra spring travel and additional foam provide a similar experience to the 10-inch version.
In other memory foam mattresses, thicker models tend to lose their firmness. However, with the Modway Jenna, the bed retains similar properties to the 10-inch, without much change to firmness.
We did find that the 14-inch model felt like it had a much softer and luxurious pillow top. The thicker memory foam layers let us sink into the pillow top, preventing us from moving around during the night. Overall, we would say that there may be a half a point difference on the firmness scale between the 10-inch and 14-inch models.

What is the Modway Jenna Mattress made from?
The hybrid construction of the Modway Jenna mattress starts at the base where individually-wrapped 8.5-inch coiled springs sit between two layers of soft felt. The springs distribute weight evenly across the surface of the bed, providing excellent motion transfer ensuring that you don’t feel your partner mover during the night.
A 0.9-inch layer of “egg carton” foam sits on top of the springs providing a soft layer of contouring support that allows you to sink into the top layer of the mattress. The 1-inch thick layer of high-quality gel-infused memory foam provides excellent airflow through the foam layers allowing for maximum breathability that keeps you cool while you sleep.
The Modway Jenna mattress comes wrapped in a quilted polyester cover to optimise airflow, and it’s everything you would expect from an affordable hybrid mattress.
Mattress Performance
We took the Modway Jenna hybrid mattress for a field test and decided to sleep on it for three nights. Here’s our evaluation of the bed, and the performance it offers the buyer.
Edge Support
The base of the bed is sturdy due to the individually pocketed coils. These coils provide a foundation for the pillowtop, and the tight fit of the springs in the felt lining means that you won’t have to worry about any distortion of the base over the years.
However, the pillow top lacks and real edge support, and while that’s not an issue with the 10-inch version, we think that the 14-inch model might start to experience some problems with the edges.
Most memory foam mattresses come with sturdy wedges on the sides that stop the edges from collapsing when you sit on the corner of the bed. However, the thick border on the pillow top does help to prevent edge collapse somewhat, but it’s not as effective as a side-wedge support bar.
Since the Modway Jenna doesn’t have this feature, we think that you might encounter problems with the edges deforming over a few years, leading to separation of the memory foam layers in the mattress.
Material Quality
The Modway Jenna features hypoallergenic memory foam in its construction. The gel-infusion in the top layer provides excellent airflow, allowing you to stay cool on a warm night, with no overheating.
The quilted polyester cover feels comfortable underneath the sheets and doesn’t feel intrusive on the skin. The innerspring come with a 10-year warranty, so we think that they must be decent quality if the manufactures willing to offer that kind of return policy.
Motion Transfer
One of the measures of a good mattress is motion transfer. This feature refers to how the bed responds to people getting in and out of bed, and whether or not the mattress isolates the movement to the localized area.
A quality mattress with excellent motion transfer will allow an individual to remain asleep undisturbed should their partner decide to get out of bed. A unique way to test this is to place a heavy object like a bowling ball on the mattress.
If you get in bed and the bowling ball starts rolling toward you, then the mattress has weak motion transfer properties. However, if the bowling ball stays in place, then the bed has excellent motion transfer properties.
The Modway Jenna hybrid mattress has excellent motion transfer capabilities thanks to the 8.5-inch individually-wrapped springs found in the base layer. These springs absorb sudden changes in weight distribution as you sit up, isolating the transfer.
As a result, the Jenna offers the same motion transfer properties as more expensive pure memory foam mattresses – at a fraction of the cost.
Off Gassing
During the manufacturing process, mattresses receive glue on the seams and inner layers of the bed to keep things together. This manufacturing technique is standard practice across all mattress manufacturers.
When these glues dry, they result in the production of volatile organic compounds, (VOCs.) The compounds can include chemicals such as benzene, formaldehyde, and toluene, which are harmful to human health.
The materials used to make the memory foam layers and the quilted polyester cover may also contain VOC compounds at minuscule levels as well. Modway ensures that all of these VOCs “gas-off” before they package your Jenna mattress. It’s far better for the VOCs to gas off in the factory than in your home.
However, you may notice a factory-like smell emanating from your mattress, similar to a new-car smell. This odor is nothing to be concerned with, and the smell should subside after 24-hours.
Modway also compresses the mattress before shipping so they can roll it into a box for transport. After receiving your mattress, take it up to your bedroom, and remove it from the packaging. Place it on your bed frame and cut the plastic cover.
The mattress springs into position and starts to expand. It may take up to 72-hours for the bed to reach its full thickness. You can sleep on the mattress during this time, and it won’t damage the springs or memory foam.
Firmness and Support
Levels of firmness and support are possibly the most critical factors to evaluate when selecting a new mattress. Manufacturers rate their mattress firmness on a scale of 1 to 10, and the Modway Jenna falls into the range of a 6 to 7 for the 10-inch model, and a 5 to 6 for the 14-inch mattress.
However, the luxurious pillow top does provide plenty of soft cushioning that provides a body-hugging contouring sensation against the body- especially with the 14-inch model.
The individually-wrapped springs in both models provide excellent support, allowing the hips and shoulders to sink into the mattress while it supports the lower back and lower limbs, keeping them level while allowing for optimal spinal alignment.
People that don’t enjoy slow-moving memory foam beds may prefer the bouncy resilience of the Modway Jenna mattress. The springs help you avoid the sag of memory foam, especially when getting out of bed.
Temperature
The Modway Jenna mattress offers excellent airflow throughout the layers. The gel-infused memory foam provides superior airflow and absorbs body heat into the gel particles in the bed where they dissipate into the base.
This refreshing effect allows you to stay cool on the warmest summer nights. The polyester cover does its best, but we think that it lacks moisture wicking features, and could have better breathability to match the airflow of the gel-infused memory foam.
Modway - Best Sellers
Trial
Most manufacturers offer some form of sleep trial, allowing you to try the bed before you decide to commit your hard-earned dollars to the purchase. However, we were disappointed to find that no such offer exists with the Modway Jenna, from any retailer.
However, this isn’t a big issue for us, considering that the manufacturer provides a warranty with your purchase.
Value
Comparing the price of the Modway Jenna mattress to its features shows that it offers tremendous value for money. Looking at other hybrids, the Jenna is a match with the top products in this class, with a price tag that affordable for most couples.
If you can’t afford a memory foam mattress, but still want that soft sink-in feeling, then consider the Jenna. The balance of innersprings with elastic memory foam provides an out-of-this-world sleep experience that will leave you feeling refreshed the following morning.
Warranty
The Modway Jenna comes with a 10-year manufacturer warranty on its construction. Should you experience any delamination or factory tears when opening the box, return it to the retailer for a full refund.
However, the build quality of this mattress is exceptional, and we think that it should provide remarkable service life that far exceeds its warranty.

The Modway Jenna Mattress for Different Types of Sleepers
People sleep in different positions, and it’s challenging to find one mattress that suits side, back, and stomach sleepers. Since less than 10-percent of people sleep in this position, most manufacturers don’t cater to producing products for people that sleep in this position.
However, the Modway Jenna mattress offers excellent all-around performance across all sleeping positions. The bed provides support in all the right places, allowing for optimal spinal alignment.
How does the Modway Jenna stack up to your sleeping position, read through the review below to help you make an informed purchase decision.
The Modway Jenna Mattress for Side Sleepers
Side sleeping is the most common sleeping style after back-sleeping. People who sleep on their side may use the fetal position or some other variant. In this position, the knees are together, or the top knee may be slightly in front or behind the other.
The top arm may also be extended, or fall to the side, with the bottom forearm either tucked under the pillow of straight out in front of the person.
As a result of their sleeping position, side-sleepers place a tremendous amount of pressure on the bottom hip and shoulder, resulting in posture problems and hip displacement. Side sleepers require a mattress that relieves stress from these joints while remaining supportive enough to provide spinal alignment.
The Jenna 10-inch mattress does a reasonable job of maintaining spinal alignment, in a side sleeping position, but we think that the 14-inch version has more pressure relief due to the softer pillow top and extra inch and a half of spring travel.
The Modway Jenna Mattress for Stomach Sleepers
Stomach sleeping is the least common sleeping position, with less than 10-percent of the world’s population using this style. People who sleep on their stomach may lay flat with both legs extended to the foot of the bed, or they might have one leg drawn up to the hip, with a bend at the knee.
Stomach sleepers that turn their head to one side may leave the opposing arm flat against the body, while the other arm remains bent at the elbow with the palm toward the top of the mattress.
Sleeping face-down on the mattress in a stomach sleeping position is uncommon, even for stomach sleepers, but it does happen. These people require a breathable mattress that offers good airflow.
The Modway Jenna hybrid mattress offers reasonably firm support that makes it an ideal bed for stomach sleepers. Many stomach sleepers find that memory foam mattresses are too soft on the pillowtop, making them sink into the bed which places extra strain on their neck, disrupting spinal alignment.
We think that the 10-inch model of the Jenna id ideal for stomach sleepers, but the 14-inch model may be a little too soft to provide optimal spinal alignment.
The Modway Jenna Mattress for Back Sleepers
Sleeping on the back is the most common sleeping position, with more than 60-percent of people choosing this style of slumber. Back sleepers benefit from the best spinal alignment at bedtime, and they have the least amount of structural and joint issues related to pressure from the mattress.
Most back sleepers enjoy a firm bed with a soft pillowtop. The Jenna is the ideal mattress for back sleepers on a budget. While either the 10-inch or 14-inch model is worth looking at, we think back sleepers will enjoy the slightly softer 14-inch model.
The soft pillowtop conforms to your body, holding you in place while you sleep, preventing any motion transfer from your partner should they get out of bed in the middle of the night. The individually coiled springs provide excellent stability and the right amount of firm support to let your hips and chest sink while your lower back receives ideal support.
How to unbox the Modway Jenna Innerspring Mattress
The Modway Jenna Innerspring mattress is very easy to set up.
- The mattress will arrive compressed and rolled into a box.
- Take the box to the room where the mattress will be used
- Carefully open the box and place the mattress onto the bedframe
- Unroll the mattress and remove the plastic covering
- Allow the mattress to decompress
- Open room windows to air out the new mattress smell

The Aveline has a rating of 6.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale, with a softer sleeping surface that provides excellent pressure relief on the hips and shoulders for side sleepers. The gel-infused memory foam contours snugly around your body, reducing movement while you sleep.

Modway Memory Foam Mattress Topper
Transform your innerspring bed into a luxurious hybrid with the Modway memory foam mattress topper. Modway designed the topper with gel-infused, open-cell memory foam. This proprietary blend of foam allows air to circulate through the topper while you sleep, drawing away your body heat to the edges of the bed.
You get a cool and refreshing sleep, without waking up feeling hot and sweaty in the middle of the night. Modway knows that some people may have already bought an innerspring bed recently. The company developed this topper to fit securely over your existing innerspring mattress. This setup gives you the benefit of the spine-aligning and contouring effect of memory foam. This topper also makes for an ideal glamping mattress or extra beds for kids sleepovers. Modway’s memory foam topper has a firmness rating of 6.5 out of 10, meaning that its ideal for side sleepers that need to take the pressure off of their hips and shoulders.
The memory foam contours around your body while you sleep, reducing movement and motion transition. Don’t buy a new mattress, revive it with a Modway topper. Memory foam mattresses can cost a fortune, but a topper gives you a near-similar experience, at a fraction of the price
PROS
- Affordable, pure memory foam topper.
- Transform your innerspring bed into a memory foam hybrid.
- Gel-infused memory foam provides maximum airflow.
CONS
- The topper would be even better if it were an inch thicker.
Modway Hotel Aveline Shredded Memory Foam Pillow
If you’re a side sleeper looking for a new pillow, then try the Modway Hotel Aveline shredded memory foam pillow. This “hotel-quality” pillow features a shredded memory foam construction, with a gel infusion. The gel allows more airflow through the pillow, keeping your neck and face cool while you sleep. The shredded design also allows you to shape the pillow to your preference as well.
Modway encased the pillow in a breathable polyester and rayon cover derived from bamboo. Never wake up in the middle of the night with wet hair again. The woven design of the cover enhances the airflow on the gel-infused shredded memory foam. The hypoallergenic cover reduces allergy symptoms, trapping dust, and pathogens.
Modway’s Hotel pillow features memory foam with an extra-firm feel, providing excellent spinal alignment and support, to give you a better night’s sleep. The pillow offers the side sleeper with pressure relief on the neck, while providing better support during transitions for sleepers that swap positions during the night.
PROS
- Extra-firm feel to the memory foam gives excellent support for side sleepers.
- The gel-infused memory foam provides enhanced ventilation and better airflow through the pillow.
CONS
- Some users with allergies report gassing-off period for between 24 to 48-hours.
