Amerisleep Mattress Reviews
Amerisleep is a one of the most popular mattress brands on the market, offering a variety of mattresses with different features and firmness. Amerisleep currently offers 5 different mattress models, all designed to give its customers better and deeper sleep. Using their HIVE® technology & pocketed coils to reduce pain and eco-friendly Bio-Pur® material to create an open cell design, combined to provide users with a relaxing, cooling and comfortable sleep. This review will look into Amerisleep most popular mattress, the Amerisleep AS3
Mattress Type
Each Amerisleep mattress is designed with one set of firmness and support in mind. The AS models range from very firm, which is ideal for back and stomach sleepers, to very soft, which is ideal for side and combo sleepers who need little in the way of support. The AS3 model falls right in the middle of the spectrum. This makes it a good fit for most sleeping styles, as long as you don’t have a strong preference toward either extreme on the scale. That allows the AS3 to appeal to the largest possible audience. Those who lie outside this range would be better off looking at another mattress, be it part of the Amerisleep family or another brand entirely.
Amerisleep AS3 Mattress - Best Amerisleep Mattress
The Amerisleep AS3 has four specialized layers intended to provide a sleeping experience that is soft and supportive. The foam layers of the mattress are as follows:
The mattress is covered with a high-performance Celliant cover. Celliant is a fabric that combines 13 different thermoreactive minerals. The material itself is very soft, but also vents heat well and makes sure that the entire mattress is very breathable.
The first foam layer is a cooling layer designed to contour the body and keeps sleepers cool throughout the night. This layer uses Bio-Pur foam, which has many of the properties of memory foam but is much more breathable and retains its shape quicker. This serves as a heat wick while still maintaining the comforting properties of memory foam.
Next comes a transition layer of memory foam that reacts to shifts in body weight and makes sure that the sleeper’s pressure points remain properly supported. This is a denser foam than the upper layer and has several contours running throughout the foam for breathability purposes.
Finally comes the support layer. This layer is crafted of Bio-Core foam, which has properties similar to Bio-Pur foam but is much denser to provide support for the body. This layer is made from plant matter rather than petroleum, making it a very eco-friendly option for those who place environmental friendliness as a top priority in their mattress purchase.
PROS
- Excellent level of firmness and support
- High quality materials
- 10-year warranty for repairs
- Environmentally friendly
CONS
- Only one firmness level
- Softness around the edge of the bed
Bed Frame Compatibility
Just as with memory foam mattresses, it is important to have a bed frame that provides a consistent base for the AS3 mattress. The good news is that most frames and bases do provide this. Box springs work well, although for box springs that are intended for coil mattresses you should place a piece of ¾-inch moisture resistant plywood on top for extra support. An adjustable frame also has its benefits, and the mattress moves in response to the adjustments. A flat or slatted frame can work as long as you have wide slats and keep them no more than three inches apart. Finally, you can choose to lay the mattress down on the floor. The 12-inch thickness still gives plenty of support and comfort in this case.
Warranty
Amerisleep provides a robust warranty that exceeds the typical memory foam mattress. The company provides free shipping and returns for all of its mattresses, allowing you to get the new mattress into your home with ease and to return it quickly should anything go wrong. A trial period of 100 nights allows you to determine whether the mattress is right for you, and you can return it if you don’t find it comfortable. The company provides a 10 year full replacement warranty which is respectable. Amerisleep also has another 10-year prorated warranty after that which covers additional possible damage or defects.
With high-quality materials and a reliable brand behind it, the Amerisleep AS3 is an excellent mattress for people who fall in the middle of the spectrum when it comes to firmness. The free trial period gives those who have any doubts a chance to try the mattress for themselves.

Amerisleep AS1 Mattress
The amerisleep offering of high-quality memory foam mattresses come in firmness grading between 1 and 5. The amerisleep AS1 is the firmest mattress amerisleep produce, and it suits back and stomach sleepers that enjoy a firm sleeping surface.
People with spinal alignment issues or muscular disorders often choose to sleep on mattresses like futons to provide firm support. Firm beds offer less comfort to the sleeper, but they make up for this characteristic by providing excellent support.
Back and stomach sleepers spread their body weight evenly across the surface of the mattress. As a result, they don’t suffer from any pressure points, like side sleepers and combination sleepers.
The amerisleep AS1 has all the outstanding features of any mattress, regardless of the firmness grading. Amerisleep is the pioneer of bio-pur foam, an open-cell foam material that provides a cooler sleeping experience than standard memory foam beds.
The Bio-core base foam provides excellent stability and doesn’t sag over time like many other memory foam beds. The removable mattress cover makes machine-washing a breeze, and the 100-night sleep trail ensures that you get the bed you deserve – or you don’t pay.
PROS
- Very firm, suitable for seniors and people living with spine problems
- Bio-Pur foam sleeps cooler than most memory foam mattresses
- Intelligent design with multiple foam layers
- 100-night sleep trial
- 20-year warranty
CONS
- Not suitable for side or combination sleepers
- Heavy
Amerisleep AS2 Mattress
The Amerisleep AS2 mattress offers medium-firm support. The bed rates as “2” on the Amerisleep firmness scale. The mattress suits back and stomach sleepers that require a firm sleeping surface to maintain optimal spinal alignment.
There isn’t much difference between medium-firm and medium in the AS2 and AS3 models in terms of benefitting spinal alignment while sleeping. It’s more about your preference between a soft or a firm surface.
We find that most back sleepers and stomach sleepers prefer the medium-firm mattress because it doesn’t feel like your “sinking” into the bed, but rather, the pillow top provides comfort, without that feeling of being bogged-down when trying to get out of bed.
This mattress still contains all the standard features you would expect to find in a premium quality mattress on offer from amerisleep. The bed features their proprietary “Bio-Pur” foam that allows for enhanced airflow through the bed, keeping you cool when sleeping.
The comfort cover unzips, and its machine washable. The specialized construction and materials used in the hypoallergenic cover wick away moisture, keeping you dry.
PROS
- Medium firmness is suitable for back and stomach sleepers.
- Bio-Pur open cell foam enables you to sleep cooler than other memory foam mattresses.
- 100-night sleep trial.
- 20-year warranty.
CONS
- Not suitable for side or combination sleepers
- Heavy
Amerisleep AS4 Mattress
The amerisleep AS4 is a fantastic mattress for side sleepers. One of the biggest issuers with sleeping on your side is the pressure on your hips and shoulder. The AS4 from amerisleep allows you to “sink” into the bed, relieving stress by spreading it out over the surface area of the mattress. The soft ergonomic transition foam absorbs all movement and pressure from the top memory foam layers.
The AS4 also includes the same open-cell memory foam technology that enhances airflow through the mattress layers, keeping you cool while you sleep. The Bio-Pur foam in the top layer of the mattress offers up to 5-times more airflow than traditional memory foam, and the “surface modification technology,” gives you the feeling of floating while you sleep.
The high-performance Celliant® cover features thermoreactive yarn that’s breathable and wicks away moisture while efficiently dispersing body heat – and its machine washable. Unzip the cover in seconds and fit it after cleaning in a matter of minutes. Amerisleep claims that they use 13 minerals in the manufacture of the cover that has thermoreactive properties, helping it disperse body heat faster.
The AS4 from amerisleep is ideal for side sleepers that live in any climate; it keeps you cool on warm summer nights while containing heat during the wintertime.
PROS
- Medium-soft firmness is suitable for side sleepers.
- Breathable Bio-Pur foam.
- Thermoreactive cover.
- 100-night sleep trial.
- 20-year warranty.
CONS
- Not suitable for stomach or back sleepers that prefer firmer beds.
- Heavy.
Amerisleep AS5 Mattress
If you enjoy the sensation of sleeping on a cloud, then the amerisleep AS5 is you go-to mattress. The super-soft layers of memory foam are over a foot deep, with the plush HIVE comfort layers providing a responsive, but luxuriously soft sleeping surface.
If you find that you sleep “hot”, then you’ll love the Bio-Pur technology in amerisleep mattresses. This open-cell foam allows air to move through the layer, dispersing body heat. The thermoreactive materials used in the manufacture of the Celliant® cover enables excellent airflow through the mattress layers, while turning your body heat into infrared energy, allowing it to disperse through the cover.
The difference in softness between the AS5 and AS1 amerisleep mattress is quite profound, and it you enjoy a soft bed, then you’ll find it challenging to find a softer model. This mattress suits side and combination sleepers that enjoy that feeling of “sinking” into the bed.
PROS
- Super-soft for side and combination sleepers that enjoy a pillow-top sleeping experience.
- Excellent airflow from the Bio-Pur foam.
- Moisture-wicking, thermoreactive cover.
- 100-night sleep trial.
- 20-year warranty.
CONS
- Not suitable for back or stomach sleepers.
- May not provide adequate support for heavier individuals.
- Most Expensive mattress in the amerisleep range.
